Walther Zwart began his career as a physicist, writing data processing software for scientific applications. He soon became hooked on developing software and he is now a full time developer at Optiver.

This talk will focus on writing fast and readable code. Optiver has a lot of experience in optimizing code to squeeze the last nanosecond out, while keeping an eye on maintainability. We will discuss some performance tips and tricks and explain some of the profiling and benchmarking techniques that we use. We will look at some concrete C++ code examples and demonstrate how to improve it using some freely available tools.
